The high content of vegetable fats accounts for the amazing moisturizing properties. Its use increases the elasticity of the skin and helps maintain the natural moisture. Shea butter is particularly rich in phenolic substances (Phenolic compounds), which we know to have strong antioxidant activity. From the 10 phenolic substances that are found in Shea Butter the 7 are catechins which can also be found in Green Tea. Catechins are believed to increase the skin’s defense against external conditions such as contamination and solar radiation while at the same time they function as anti-aging agents.
